Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko soared to an unprecedented achievement for Israeli women’s athletics as she jumped to a silver medal placing at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing. The 25-year-old Israeli triple jumper also bounded to a national record of 14.78 meters.

Knyazyeva-Minenko is the first Israeli woman to win a silver medal at the World Championships event. This is the third medal won by an Israeli at the world contest.

Colombia’s Caterine Ibarguen leaped 14.9 meters to gold in the triple jump category.

Knyazyeva-Minenko has been competing for Israel since 2013, after moving here for love. She is married to former decathlon champion Anatoly Minenko.

She competed for her native Ukraine at the 2012 Summer Olympics and came in fourth in the women’s triple jump event with a jump of 14.56 meters. Knyazyeva-Minenko will represent Israel at the upcoming Olympic Games.
