Israeli singer and songwriter Oren Lavie has been nominated for a Grammy award for Best Music Video for his video of his song Her Morning Elegance.

The unique music video, which debuted a year ago, has drawn enthusiastic reactions worldwide. It is made of a sequence of photographs taken by Eyal Landesman and directed by Lavie, along with Yuval and Merav Natan.

The other nominees in the prestigious Best Music Video category are big names in the music world such as Coldplay, Depeche Mode and the Black Eyed Peas.

Lavie was in a guitar store when he received the good news by phone from his friends who had seen the press release about the nomination.

‘I think it’s a brave move to nominate a young, new artist who is not even American,’ Lavie told the Israeli Ynet online news service from Los Angeles, where he is currently living. He also said that he hadn’t known that the nominees were being announced, “and even if I had known, I would not have thought to look for my name on that list.”

Lavie is currently working on his second English album and has also begun recording songs in Hebrew, as an expression of his “great love” for Tel Aviv.
