The Jerusalem development studio crew at Funtactix is responsible for the design and development of the official online game accompanying The Hunger Games. It was premiered on Facebook on March 23, the day the movie opened in the United States to huge box-office profits.

“The Hunger Games Adventures” takes players through a plot that mirrors the post-apocalyptic themes of the movie, which is based on the first in a trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins.

This interactive project is just the latest in a string of Hollywood deals for the New York-based company, which also has development studios in Tel Aviv and in Los Angeles.

Funtactix was founded in 2006 and rapidly earned an industry reputation for quick turnaround in web-based gaming. In early 2008, the studio was the first to deliver connected 3D multiplayer action gaming to the browser through Moondo, an online world of highly integrated avatar-based games.

Funtactix previously won the contract to make official social games for the release of Rango and Mission Impossible. This is a new spin on monetizing popular films, and it looks like the company has a bright future in this area, according to the buzz surrounding a preview of the game held at Cinema City in Ramat Hasharon.
