The Israeli film Intimate Grammar won the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prize Film Award at the 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival on October 31.
Director Nir Bergman’s film, based on a novel by internationally-acclaimed Israeli author David Grossman, also won the Haggiag Award for Best Full-Length Feature Film at the 27th Jerusalem Film Festival in July.
Starring Orly Zibershatz, Intimate Grammar follows the story of Aaron, as he matures from childhood to adolescence in Israel in the early 1960s.
Bergman’s first feature Broken Wings also won the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prize Film Award in 2002.
