The long anticipated Apple Watch went on sale at the end of last week in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK and the US. And several blue-and-white apps are already available for use on this revolutionary wearable technology.

Glide for Apple Watch  is a device-specific version of the popular live video messenger that has attracted more than 15 million users since launching two years ago. Glide is the first app to enable video playback on the Apple Watch.

Users can receive video, text and photo messages on their wrists — even watch inbound videos live as they’re being recorded, or later at their convenience. The app leverages Apple’s “Handoff” feature, which lets users seamlessly switch from watching a video on the Watch to continuing from the exact same spot on the iPhone’s larger screen.

“We are very bullish on the Apple Watch and believe that live video messaging from your wrist will rapidly become the easiest way to keep in touch with friends and family on the go,” said Ari Roisman, CEO and co‐founder of Jerusalem-based Glide. “By combining Glide with the Apple Watch, we are ushering in a new era of digital communication that will largely replace text messaging. ‘Tap and talk’ messaging delivers a more natural experience on these devices’ tiny screens than typing.”

Metronome, JoyTunes’ Apple Watch app developed in just three days, helps instrumental music students practice and play. Metronome allows the wearer to change the tempo or time signature of a song just by tapping. Starting and controlling the app is as simple as raising your wrist – everything syncs with the iPhone in real time.

24me for Apple Watch  puts all your calendar meetings, tasks, notes, iPhone reminders and personal reminders in one place. The award-winning personal assistant app can be used to receive personalized notifications from bill payment reminders from service providers to daily agenda, weather alerts, time to leave for meeting based on traffic, birthday reminders and more.

Vonage Mobile for Apple Watch is one of the first wearable communications apps on the market that allows users to set personal reminders to return a phone call or message at a later time from the watch. Vonage Mobile users won’t need to pick up their iPhone to respond to text messages and calls with voice-to-text functionality or with one of five preset responses. The new app, which has many additional features, was developed at the Vonage R&D center in Ra’anana.

“Vonage prides itself on addressing changing communications needs with innovative solutions,” said Ra’anana team leader Sagi Dudai, vice president-mobile development for Vonage. “The extension of Vonage Mobile to Apple Watch is another example of our desire to be early to market as new device options become available to consumers.”

TL;DR, another Israeli app that turns your inbox into a news feed and allows you to read and answer emails with one tap, has also released a version for the Apple Watch.
