Orthodox Christian pilgrims are baptised in the Jordan River as part of traditional Epiphany ceremonies.

The ceremony takes place at the site of Qasr el Yahud in the Jordan Valley, the place where Jesus is believed to have been baptized.

The site, which is administered by the Israeli Civil Administration and the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, was closed for many years, but reopened in 2010.
