Banner Day for Gay Pride TLV 2013

Photographer Elyssa Frank loves the energy of Tel Aviv and there was no place more energetic last week than at the non-stop city’s annual Gay Pride celebration.

The day started out with the city streets and beachfront bedecked in rainbow flags and the Tel Aviv municipal logo.

Rainbow flags were everywhere as people gathered for a rally at Gan Meir (Meir Park) adjacent to the municipal center for the GLBT community.

But things really got started when Tel Aviv let its freak flag fly freely as the parade made its way from the park down Borgrashov Street.

Some flags were uniquely Israeli, representing all sides of the political spectrum.

The religious gay community represented with a rainbow banner.

And the US contingent raised the stars and rainbow bars.

The parade ended up at Gordon Beach where the rainbow facade of the Dan Hotel made a perfect backdrop for a mass dip in the sea.

And a giant beach party that lasted well into the night.
