Israel will donate two skin graft meshers to Taiwanese hospitals treating the victims of last month’s horrific water park explosion accident. The meshers, worth more than $10,000 each, will be given to the Tri-Service General Hospital and Mackay Memorial Hospital in Taipei next week.
Jerusalem offered to donate the medical aid after learning from Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare that more than 400 victims of the explosion remain hospitalized and that 202 of them are in serious condition and are in need of skin grafts.
The accident occurred during a party at a Taipei water park in June when organizers sprayed colored powder on the crowds and it accidentally ignited. One person died in the incident and 498 were injured.
Israel’s outgoing representative to Taiwan, Simona Halperin, will personally deliver the medical aid to the two hospitals.
