Final arrangements for the 4th Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference are now being made as the international get-together is set to run February 22-24. This conference in Eilat is the most important renewable energy event in Israel.

Thousands of participants from across the country and around the world are expected to take part. This year’s event will present technological innovation, business opportunities, policies and implementations for renewable energy with a special focus on the programs for eliminating dependency on fossil fuels and promoting wider usage of alternative energy sources.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Dan Arvizu, Director and Chief Executive of the United States Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and Dr. Uzi Landau, Minister of National Infrastructures of Israel.

Organizers said that one of the central discussions throughout the conference will focus on the progress of renewable energy projects in Israel. The focus will be put on the role of the Israeli government in creating incentives for renewable energy projects including subsidies for suppliers of renewable energy. The session will also include a debate on if investment assistance programs that were successful in the information and communication technology sectors can be applied to the development of cleantech technologies.

Participants will also get to tour a number of the alternative energy projects of the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Initiative, including the Arava Power 5 MW Solar Farm on Kibbutz Ketura, the Aora Solar Tower on Kibbutz Samar and the Passive Cooling Tower on Kibbutz Neot Smadar.

In related news, the European EUREKA industrial research program will be holding its annual Cleantech planning conference in parallel to the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference and will offer a number of joint sessions at the event. Heads of numerous national funding organizations serving as EUREKA representatives together with European policymakers and major industry leaders are expected to participate.

The Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy International Conference and Exhibition is among the world’s leading platforms for presenting technological innovation in the renewable energy field.
