The characters of Romeo, Juliet, Othello and Macbeth are all in Tel Aviv right now as they take part in the International Shakespeare Festival at the Cameri Theater. The theater extravaganza, which continues through November 15, is marking the birth of the greatest playwright of all times exactly 450 years ago.

Leading directors and theater troupes from Britain, Romania, Lithuania, Georgia, Slovenia and Israel are currently staging the best of the Bard’s repertoire. The playbill includes Romeo and Juliet (Lithuania, OKT, Vilnius); As You Like It (Georgia, The National Theatre, Tbilisi); Othello (City Theatre of Lubljiana, Slovenia); The Tempest (Romania, The National Theatre, Craiova);  Macbeth (Israel, The Cameri Theater); Richard the Second (Israel, The Cameri Theater); The Merchant of Venice (Israel, Habima); and Digital Theatre (The Royal Shakespeare Company) among others.
