Hadassah College Department of Optometry students collaborate with SoflexIsraeli contact lens company Soflex and the Department of Optometry at Hadassah College in Jerusalem, the only academic institution in Israel with a graduate program in Vision Sciences (M.Optom), are collaborating on exclusive development of multi-focal contact lenses in order to find a solution for short and far sightedness. Since demand for multi-focal contacts is growing, the students chose to research and develop personally fitted lenses. Soflex develops, manufactures and markets contact lenses, lens solutions and accessories, and also manufactures custom-made lenses, using advanced CNC lathes to achieve sophisticated, precision design and to ensure uniform products. Within the framework of the collaboration, Soflex is helping the College with the workshops and supervision for fitting contact lenses. In addition, students will conduct experiments and examinations in the College’s recently established state-of-the art electro-physiology lab.
