Tel Aviv University scientists have published a study which shows a direct link between bad breath and obesity, Science Daily reported.

The team, lead by halitosis guru Professor Mel Rosenberg, sampled the breath of 88 adults of varying body types and questioned them in detail about their daily habits, noting an unexpected correlation between the extent to which an individual was overweight and the unpleasantness of their breath.

The study, reported recently in the Journal of Dental Research, points the way towards further investigation of the links between obesity, lifestyle and oral health, the researchers say.
